Baby Tyler and Elise’s Maternity Shoots in Hampshire
It’s an absolute honour whenever anyone chooses to book in for a shoot with me. It’s amazing that people fall in love with my photographs, put their faith in me and want me to capture their family.
However, it’s an ultra special feeling (and, I’ll admit, a little more nerve wracking) when a fellow photographer books in. Especially someone whose work you admire as much as I do Elise’s wedding photography. Elise, her husband and their adorable boy Jesse, booked in for a maternity shoot which would be followed by some lifestyle newborn photography at home once Jesse’s new sibling made an appearance.
Jesse had been born during Covid and Elise had always hated that she couldn’t get any maternity photos done. She’d tried to get her husband to take some and had attempted some self portraits but it wasn’t the same. She loved the feelings and connection I capture which is such a fab compliment to receive.

Their family maternity shoot took place at Lepe Beach, Hampshire, on a cold November day. Ok, I say cold. It was freezing! The three of them were absolute troopers and hid their shivers well! They were all cosy in their chunky knits, especially little Jesse who was super snug in his woolly hat and warm cardigan.
We had the most wonderful time, Jesse was full of beans and loved cuddling up to his mummy and daddy. They got cosy on a rug together before Jesse decided he had done enough sitting around and wanted his Dad to chase him up and down the sand!
Elise looked stunning in dresses from my client wardrobe, she even braved going into the sea! As soon as she was out I made sure she had some of my heat packs to warm her up quickly. Also, mums, don’t worry, I will never ever force you to go into the sea or do anything you’re not happy to do. Elise was completely up for this and I went in there with her. If I had got even the slightest idea that it was just too cold for her I would have whisked her out of there straight away. The last thing I want is anyone, especially a heavily pregnant lady, to be feeling awful with cold.

Baby Tyler arrived into the world at Christmas. Sadly the whole family came down with a sickness bug and were out of action for a few weeks but we managed to get his newborn shoot booked in when he was around 4 weeks old. This isn’t a problem at all, I class ‘newborn’ as up to 12 weeks and I’ve even done newborn style shoots with older babies. At this point it might take them a little longer to fall asleep, and we may need to adapt poses, but you get more reactions and even some smiles from them so it all works out!
Tyler’s newborn shoot took place at home. Jesse is such a proud big brother, he wanted to be fully involved in the shoot and couldn’t stop cuddling ‘his’ baby. Then all of a sudden he was done. No more photos! It was very funny!
The whole session was just a joy. Elise knew instinctively where the light was everytime, one of the perks of working with a fellow photographer! I took my client wardrobe with me and a few outfits for Tyler. Elise had put Jesse in the cutest outfit, I loved his rainbow leggings. Elise herself chose to wear one of the same dresses from her maternity shoot. I love that connection between the two photography sessions.
Lifestyle Newborn Photography
It was just wonderful to see Elise’s family grow, from her maternity shoot through to her at home lifestyle shoot with her two boys.
