The Roving Dress

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Anna Hornby on Instagram. She told me about a project that she was starting about a travelling dress. I had no idea what a travelling dress was and I was absolutely intrigued.

She told me that in this project there would be 19 photographers from all across the UK who all take turns to photograph the dress and at the end of the project one of us would have the chance to win the actual dress. There was no limitations as to what you could shoot with it and she wanted us all to let our imaginations go wild.

Let me tell you a little bit about this dress is a Reclamation dress. Their dresses are like no other brand that you will encounter. Their gowns suit anyone because they understand who woman are. Their dresses are full of history with the use of vintage and antique lace they create the most perfect gowns that speak to your heart and your soul.

So when this gorgeous gown arrived at my house in Wiltshire I was blown away. The lace was so delicate and dress just flowed, it was stunning. What I loved is that it could fit most people. It was such a clever design that it didn't matter if you were a size 6 or a size 16 with a beautiful pregnancy bump.

I had a styled wedding shoot, a maternity photo shoot and a model lined up to photograph in this beautiful dress. The issue I had was the weather forecast was atrocious. I wasn’t even sure that I was going to be able to photograph any of them. Luckily the photography gods were looking down and I managed to fit all three.

One of the biggest draws of this project was when all 19 photographers have shot it then this gown is going to be given away to one of us. I am crossing everything and asking the universe to put a kind word in as I would love this to be in my client wardrobe. I was so excited to be out in the countryside capturing this beautiful gown and I can’t wait to see what everyone else in the project captures.
